Not sure what Pilates is?
Pilates is a method of movement designed to build strength, control, mobility and a better understanding of how your body moves.
It can be practised on a mat or with specialist equipment. At Vagabond, that includes the Reformer, Tower, Wunda Chair, Cadillac and barrels, although most of our group sessions are Reformer-based.
The Reformer uses a moving carriage, springs, straps and a footbar to add support or resistance as you move. It can be adapted to different levels and helps you work the whole body with control and purpose.
You do not need to understand every piece of equipment before you begin, and you may never need to use all of it. We will help you find the class and equipment that suit where you are now.

We will help you find the right class and explain everything as you go.

What to expect
Before your class
Book the class that best matches your experience and arrive around ten minutes early. Your instructor will welcome you, show you the studio and explain the equipment before the session begins.
What to wear
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. No need for fancy Pilates sets, unless you want to.
Grip socks are required for Reformer classes. Bring your own or check whether they are available to buy at the studio.
During the session
Your instructor will demonstrate the movements, explain any equipment and guide you throughout the class. All class sizes are limited to a maximum of 8 so you will be supported throughout.
You are welcome to ask questions, take your time, stop for water, and pause whenever you need to. Nobody expects you to know the terminology or remember every spring setting straight away.
After your class
Share feedback with your instructor and appreciate what you have achieved. Both studios are located next to cafes if you want to grab a drink with new and familiar friends afterwards too.
Book in for your next class and consider a package or membership.
